A blend of Scandinavian simplicity and Japanese functionality, TABI is more than just a shoe brand. It is a lifestyle based on ancient Japanese traditions and over 15 years of personal experience. The unique, modern design combines functionality and comfort, and sustainable production is a matter of course.

TABI was created by Eik Braun-Ottosen in 2021. Eik, who already has two other shoe brands under his belt, has always strived to combine quality design with shoes that are beneficial for the feet.

With Tabi, Eik mixes his personal passions and professional experiences for a refined product based on innate amplification, meaning the reinforcement of innate physical capabilities. Being able to feel the ground beneath one's feet and letting the foot move freely helps to create a special kind of grounding - not only physically, but also mentally.

His desire is also to commit to a certain ethical standard with low-impact production, but also with strong initiatives balancing product quality and longevity through responsible material sourcing. The shoe uppers are knitted in one piece using Tencel fibers derived from renewable raw materials such as wood or bamboo.

Biomechanics

The big toe plays an important role in the foot's biomechanics. During walking, it exerts a total pressure twice as high as that of the other four toes. It contributes significantly to the mechanism required for push-off.
