Norse Projects x Adidas

The Danish brand Norse Projects has just presented its fourth collaboration with Adidas around two iconic models: the Campus and the Skychaser.

The landscapes, colors, and textures of Scandinavia have always inspired Norse Projects. More than a thousand kilometers from the northwest coast of Denmark, the remote Faroe Islands (or Færøerne in Danish) are a rugged but beautiful protrusion of rock that juts into the waters of the southern Norwegian Sea. The disparate landscape of this volcanic archipelago is an autonomous territory that is part of the Kingdom of Denmark; its steep cliffs, picturesque valleys, and towering mountains create a natural color palette unique in the world.

For its SS23 partnership with adidas, Norse Projects returns to nature.

"The Faroe Islands are a place filled with many natural contrasts within a small area. Due to natural features such as green hills, rugged waterfalls, and sea cliffs, the landscape can be both soft and beautiful, or dark and dramatic."

Forged when the eruption of extreme heat is cooled by the Atlantic, the deep black geology represents the abnormality of nature and its mercurial state. Embodying the adventurous spirit of Norse Projects and our affinity for the outdoors, the Skychaser model, available in Ash Black and Deep Navy, characterizes the dark spectrum of dusky colors on the rocks that meet the shores of the navy blue sea. The small earth accents on the sole represent the rocks and sand of the continent on which we build our foundations for life.

Lastingly linked to our roots, the Campus 80 is a familiar reminder that we are both explorers and residents. In dark green, a color found throughout the mainland of the Faroe Islands, it covers the roofs of Scandinavian-style houses, the green hills, and the local vegetation of the Danish island.

The 2023 collaboration between Norse Projects and Adidas embodies a spirit of exploration and discovery. An appreciation of the geography of Scandinavia, rooted in innovation and tradition."

The Campus is made with an English calfskin leather upper, while recycled elements are used for the stripes and the back of the heel. It was designed to accompany you around town, from morning to night. The Skychaser, on the other hand, represents the outdoors. It is a testament to technical mastery for a shoe designed to feel at ease on the varied terrains and lands of the Faroe Islands. It is a shoe designed for navigators and explorers. The upper consists of a two-way stretch woven nylon, resting on a Boost sole.

"In true Norse Projects style, our idea was to work around a highly functional model and a classic, timeless model. The Skychaser is a high-performance outdoor model that can be used in many environments. The Campus is a timeless classic that effortlessly evokes the idea of a city uniform."

The Skychaser and the Campus were created to represent the Norse Projects maxim: " Good for All Seasons ". This duo draws inspiration from the black sand beach of Tjørnuvík and the towering cliffs that dominate the horizon of the northern coast.

The Terrex Skychaser model comes in Ash Black, while the Deep Navy touch characterizes the obscure spectrum of dark colors on the glassy rocks that meet the sea shores. The Campus 80s evokes the less harsh side of the Faroe Islands. The dark green appears on the Campus just as it does on the hills and houses of Saksun, an architectural office linked to the Faroe Islands.
