Rains / FW21 ANTICIPATE
Published

Titled ANTICIPATE, the Autumn/Winter 2021 show from Rains recreated a strange and unsettling universe highlighting a collection designed to expect the unexpected.
The ANTICIPATE collection, anchored in the unknown, offers a conversation around an uncertain future through which the form and function of the garments come together in a modernity without unnecessary compromise.

PU-coated twill, Rains' signature material, contrasts with silhouettes in light, crisp, sailcloth-like fabrics and bulkier padded designs simulating reassuring armor against the external elements.
Together, these different themes of the collection offer a sense of hope in a close-knit atmosphere and a collective fight for the future.
"This season, it was inevitable not to look at global events and create a collection that offers a confident vision for the future. We wanted to build pieces that give people a sense of strength, collaboration, and presence. It is through bold silhouettes in a uniform color palette that we achieved a sense of confidence in a community spirit," explains Tanne Winter.

The color range is mainly composed of shades of gray punctuated by holographic effects and an icy blue acting like a glimmer of light in the collection.
The show
To present its AW21 collection, Rains imagined a science-fiction scenario, offering its outdoor garments a highly cinematic staging.
Exploring the notion of waiting, 30 looks paraded to the top of a minimalist platform plunged into darkness and overlooked by a water capsule hovering in the air. Just lit by spotlights on the runway, the collection paraded in an aura of mystery leaving the imagination to wander towards a new world.
