Rains presented its AW20 collection during the last Copenhagen Fashion Week in front of an audience of international journalists and influencers. The show was styled and staged by the stylist and "it" girl Pernille Tiesbaek.

Praised by critics, the Rains Autumn/Winter 2020 collection is titled "Chasing Time" and sets the tone for slowing down and refocusing attention on mindfulness.

The Collection

The fact that most of us live at a fast pace, in multidimensional conditions, with an ever-increasing online presence, prompted the AW20 collection to focus on slowing down. The idea was a collection of products inspired by the balance that nature intuitively provides. "With this collection, we are building a figurative temporal shelter, creating timeless silhouettes and color palettes, each having a subtle yet striking impact," explains Tanne Vinter, Head of Design at Rains.

The Colors

A more neutral, calmer, and more sophisticated range of earthy tones takes place. Original methods of plant dyeing, vegetable-tanned leather, dried flowers, and handmade terracotta ceramics inspired the warmer shades of the AW20 earthy color palette.

By creating a raw and tactile sensation, Rains invites nature's own resources: ice, volcanic rock, stones, and deep blue hues drawn from the depths of the ocean to color the cooler and more atmospheric shades of AW20.

The Silhouettes

Silhouettes are exaggerated, minimized, and manipulated as a whole, exploring the use of volume and form. The creation of new pieces that challenge the brand's classics allows it to move forward, ensuring a collection liberated from all past, present, and future connotations.

The Materials

The materials in the collection are the result of research by rainwear specialists to provide visual variety. Among the materials in the collection are shiny, transparent surfaces, a waxed twill, and Rains' signature matte finish. Leveraging fabric intelligence, each material encompasses a range of functional qualities, transforming Rains collections into all-weather solutions.
