Baracuta teams up with avant-garde designer Junya Watanabe
Baracuta is honored to welcome and collaborate with Junya Watanabe, one of the world's most important designers, born in Tokyo and a member of the Comme des Garçons group.
Junya Watanabe and Baracuta have teamed up to create a unique version of the G9 Harrington jacket. And this collaboration is a true collector's item.
Junya Watanabe is known worldwide for his avant-garde style, his exploration of innovative concepts, his approach to fashion and garment creation.

Baracuta is a very open-minded brand with values such as inclusivity, diversity, and love for creativity.
The collaboration with Watanabe is a reflection of this. It is precisely the designer's experience, interpretative ability, and remarkable craftsmanship that are in the spotlight.
His design experience, ability to interpret, and craftsmanship are at the core of this project with Baracuta's icon, the G9 Harrington jacket.

The jacket has been deconstructed in every aspect and reassembled using different fabrics.
This creation also differs from the classic G9 Harrington jacket in its silhouette and texture. Indeed, Watanabe envisioned an oversized G9 shape.
This is a completely new approach to British heritage through a highly innovative and aesthetic design.

Although some aspects of the jacket have been modified, several of Baracuta's signature features are still present, such as the umbrella back vent, the classic two-button collar, raglan sleeves for extra movement, the iconic slanted pockets...
The Fraser Tartan lining remains the same while also evolving. It has been deconstructed, just like the outer body of the jacket, and tailored using two tartan prints, Baracuta's iconic Fraser Tartan and a unique punk-style tartan, making it a one-of-a-kind piece.
The jacket is available in black and will only be available in Eye, Comme de Garçon, and Watanabe stores, as well as on the Baracuta website.

Baracuta
Baracuta is one of the historic brands of British apparel. Born in Manchester in 1937, its iconic G9, G4, and G10 have become timeless classics. The G9 remains one of the most famous icons in the history of menswear, whose cult status exploded in the 1950s with its distribution in the United States and the brand's adoption by celebrities such as Elvis Presley, James Dean, Frank Sinatra, and Steve McQueen. In 1964, the Baracuta G9 became universally known as the "Harrington" jacket thanks to the popularity of Ryan O'Neal, who wore it as Rodney Harrington in Peyton Place. In recent years, this classic of British style has also been adopted by several subcultures, including mods, punks, skinheads, and various English rockers.
Junya Watanabe
After starting his career as an apprentice pattern maker at Comme des Garçons, Junya Watanabe quickly established himself as a distinguished talent, displaying an avant-garde aesthetic and becoming the unofficial protégé of icon Rei Kawakubo. Following the launch of his eponymous label under the umbrella of Comme des Garçons, the prolific designer has won international critical acclaim for his mastery of conceptual designs, pattern manipulation, and innovative use of synthetic materials. Launched in 1992, Watanabe presented his first collection in Paris in 1993 and also launched a men's line for Spring-Summer 2002.
