Sunspel collaborates with the WM Brown Project to create the perfect Aran turtleneck sweater.

Building on the success of their previous collaboration, Sunspel worked with Matt Hranek from the WM Brown Project to create the perfect Aran turtleneck sweater, reimagining a heritage style into an exceptionally comfortable, contemporary piece.

The Aran pattern has long been associated with the enduring style of icons like Steve McQueen and Robert Redford, but its heritage is often overshadowed by the roughness of traditional versions. "Some of my favorite icons have worn Aran sweaters," explains Matt Hranek. "I've collected vintage sweaters, but they're just unbearable to wear. They're too itchy. So we wanted to revisit this classic style using Sunspel's wonderfully soft British wool."

Drawing on Sunspel's heritage of luxury and comfort, combined with centuries of Scottish craftsmanship, this sweater is designed to offer an unparalleled feel. It's made with the finest Geelong lambswool, spun by one of Scotland's oldest spinners on the shores of Loch Leven. The final piece is then knitted by specialists in Dumfriesshire, using unique knitting machines that create the pattern, before being hand-bound, steamed, and undergoing quality control. The sweater is washed in naturally soft, alkaline Scottish water, which loosens the fibers, transforming them from stiff and rigid to soft and smooth.
