Baracuta X Barbour/ Manchester meets South Shields.

Barbour and Baracuta have just launched their second collaboration, celebrating their shared Northern British roots and 200 years of creating stylish and practical outerwear designed to withstand the harshest British weather.
The Baracuta x Barbour Autumn/Winter 24 collection is an “ode” to the subcultural movements of Northern Britain that have embraced Baracuta's iconic G9 Harrington jacket since the 1950s. From Teddy Boys to Mods, Rude Boys to Oasis Britpop fans, the G9 has transcended style, music, and culture like no other.

The collection pays homage to those stylish tribes who have embraced Baracuta and Barbour throughout the ages, with an expanded offering of clothing and accessories, blending the brands’ distinctive archive DNA and their signature tartans to create a collection of new timeless pieces.

“The meticulous fusion of the DNA of these two brands was the key to this collaboration. We wanted to take inspiration from the northern roots of Barbour and Baracuta, and from the people who have worn our jackets over the years. That’s why we have paid great attention to detail, whether it’s the trims, the fabrics, or the fit. I know there are small details that aficionados will notice immediately.”
Ian Bergin, Men’s Ready-to-Wear Director, Barbour.

The collection includes a range of clothing that blends the brands’ DNA to reimagine their iconic pieces.
The famous Barbour Bedale jacket, made for the first time in 1980 and born from a love of balance, has been reworked with Baracuta’s dog collar, bringing a fresh, contemporary touch to a timeless classic. Meanwhile, Baracuta’s G9 Harrington jacket is reimagined in the waxed cotton iconic to Barbour, enhanced with brass details and a two-way ring zipper.

The Mod Casual Parka makes, as its name suggests, an homage to the Mod movement of the 1960s, revitalized by the Brit-pop era of the 1990s, combining military influences with the classic back umbrella of Baracuta.

This Parka includes modern elements like a drawstring at the waist, an oversized hood, and offers a slender silhouette, combining style and functionality.

The collection is completed by accessories such as the Barbour x Baracuta Bucket Hat and the Trapper Cap, combined with 100% wool knits or a Henley T-shirt for a typically Brit-pop aesthetic.

But the the common denominator of the collection is the juxtaposition of the brands' iconic tartans, which collide in an unexpected but harmonious way.
The Barbour's House Tartan, inspired by the tartan of the Ayrshire district and created in 1998, and the Fraser of Baracuta tartan combine to celebrate the Scottish story and timeless British style.

“More than a simple collaboration, it is about a heritage union, a know-how, and a deeply rooted British identity.

Manchester and South Shields, emblematic cities of Baracuta and Barbour, flow through our veins and our clothes.

When you wear a piece from Baracuta x Barbour, you’re not just wearing clothes you’re conveying a message of unequaled British purity.”- Baracuta

Continuing the ode to the brand's Nordic heritage, the campaign was photographed in the red-brick streets of Manchester's northern district, where Baracuta was born in 1938.

Set against a backdrop of mills and factories remnants of Ancoats' past, the world's first industrial capital and the cradle of the Industrial Revolution.
