In 2017, the arrival of an investor group helped consolidate and accelerate the brand's development across Europe.
Born out of a custom motorcycle workshop, the Australian clothing and lifestyle accessories brand was founded in Sydney in 2006 by Dare Jennings and Carby Tuckwell.
The Deus Ex Machina product universe
The Deus Ex Machina catalogue covers a complete men's and women's wardrobe:
Printed jerseys
Shirts and functional outerwear
Seasonal accessories
The heavy cotton graphic T-shirt (180–280 g/m²) remains the brand's flagship product, rolling out a new range of prints each season that blends old-school typography, motorcycle references and surf culture.
Outerwear rounds out the offer with coach jackets in recycled nylon, aviator jackets and workwear pieces directly inspired by mechanic uniforms. The cuts are relaxed and the signature colorways are immediately recognizable.
The Deus Ex Machina catalogue reads as a coherent universe that sits naturally within a contemporary multi-brand environment. The brand offers a permanent selection (classics) alongside its seasonal collections, securing replenishment options and reducing risk for retailers.
A commercially driven graphic identity
Deus Ex Machina's commercial strength rests on a distinctive visual identity long built by Carby Tuckwell.
Regular collaborations with artists and high-profile brands (MINI, Breitling, Attaquer) generate high-visibility capsule collections and recurring reasons to buy. Deus Ex Machina also cultivates an international community through its own events (Slidetober, Swank Rally) and social media channels, keeping the brand front of mind with consumers.
